The purpose of this activity is to provide the learner with the ability to identify and manage behavioral and cognitive changes of the Dementia client.
Criteria for Successful Completion of Activity to claim CE Certificate
Live Classroom:

Learning Objectives
By the end of this educational activity the learner will be able to:
- recognize the demographics of the disease, who is effected and the effects on the family unit
- define dementia and cognitive changes
- recognize cognitive and physical changes that complicate ADL care and identify techniques to assist with ADLs
- define verbal and nonverbal communication and describe strategies for successful communication
- identify common, challenging and potentially harmful behaviors and describe interventions used in responding to these behaviors
- describe the fundamentals of facilitation
- strengthen current facilitator skills and behaviors
- develop new facilitator skills and behaviors

Lauren Hirsh, LCSW
Lauren Hirsch, LCSW has worked in the home health care field for 7 years in multiple roles supporting a number of different service lines of home care. She received her masters in Social Work from New York University in 2011 and is currently a practicing clinician. She has worked to support the development of the dementia program curriculum and criteria at BAYADA.
Daniel Rush
Daniel Rush has been in the nursing field for nineteen years. He has been a registered nurse for 15 years. Daniel received his RN degree from St. Petersburg College in Florida. Dan has led an open heart and a progresssive care unit as a charge nurse and assitant manager. He assisted in setting up and leading the precepting of college registered nurse students from local schools in the Tampa area. Dan joined Bayada Home Health Care as a clinical manager, supervising a mixed adult skilled and unskilled caseload. Daniel has received his adult clinical instructor certificate through Bayada Home Health Care. He became Manager of Clinical Operations for the Birds of Paradise Division in April 2015. Currently, he is the MCO for the BOP Division and Trillium Division.

If course is cancelled:
